Introduction to Praxis Journal #2

"We decided to begin each meeting by singing the official RAAN themesong, but then we realized that it was a freestyle." - Anonymous

Welcome to the second installment of Praxis, the journal of the Red & Anarchist Action Network (RAAN). Like our first issue, this publication has been cooperatively put together by members of the network who felt like they had something to contribute to the development of our practical theory. As the name of the journal suggests, all essays, interviews, and opinions found here are dedicated to improving our understanding of the network's real-world functions and activity. This concentration is necessary in order for us to remove the concept of communist-anarchist unity, and of RAAN itself, from the realm of abstract theory.

We have chosen to title this issue "communists without apology, anarchists without compromise", which has recently become something of a slogan in the network. In this issue, members of RAAN will present ideas on the relationship of radicals to the media and liberal organizations, the culture of action that has been forming within the network, and the experiences of those who have been organizing it in their communities.

It is worth noting that since the publication of Praxis #1, RAAN has grown significantly. The birth of network-affiliated groups in several cities and the rapid production of RAAN Network News, a new periodical covering the activities of our organization, (now on its second issue) are indicative of our network's maturing culture, a culture that we hope you will be able to recognize and appreciate within the following pages.

Love,

- The Praxis #2 Editorial Circle*

* As a formal grouping, there is actually no Praxis "Editorial Circle" in existence. Instead, we use this as a blanket term inclusive to all those who have contributed to, proofread, put together, and distributed the publication that you now hold in your hands.
